Detailed Design Plan for a Partial or Full Yard Space

I take a detailed look at your existing plants and layout, and we discuss what your needs and wants are for your garden. I consider privacy needs, all layers of plants, from tree canopies and shrubs to groundcovers and bulbs, year-round interest, maintenance issues, and a myriad of other considerations in putting together a comprehensive and detailed design.

First, I meet with you on-site to talk about your wish list for your space and other details. I will then take detailed measurements of your yard and existing plants to create a "to scale" base map.

We will then meet again to review at least one preliminary concept drawing (and often two or three concepts, depending on your needs and the scope of the project) along with exploring foundational features, colors, materials, and plants in a collaborative meeting.

After we decide together on preliminary details, I will take all that information back to my office to prepare a final formal design. I will take into account your wish list and style as well as many other variables from soil, long-term growth plan, watering goals, groundcover, whether you are installing the design, hiring me to install your design, or hiring a landscaping company to do the install, and more.

The final design will be printed in color and to scale. You will receive a copy of the design in paper and electronic form. You will also receive a detailed plant list, plant reference photos, and plant care instructions.

Cost: Depends on the size of your space and your overall design needs, although it often falls in the range of $1,500-$6,000.

Note: This is for a design plan; not construction or architectural drawings. 

If you are looking for a slightly less expensive and less comprehensive option with a truncated concept review process and fewer supporting documents, I provide "Design on a Budget" sketches at my hourly rate of $115/hour. This is typically only appropriate for DIY clients.
